Wouldn't it be great to have a web-based platform for translation, postediting and proofreading, with a modern, simple to use graphical user interface and OpenTM2 serving as a server back-end for Translation Memory matches?

This is exactly what the Crowdfunding for web-based Open Source Translation System wants to achieve by integrating OpenTM2, translate5 and Moses-based MT.

The good news even is, that the first phase of the crowdfunding just shortly finished successfully funding € 21.000,-- from 7 companies:

beo, Lexitech and Supertext (GOLD supporters); oneword (SILVER supporter); IOLAR and Globalese (BRONZE supporter); Locasoft (Supporter).

The development of all the needed functionality on translate5 side already started. As soon as the second phase is funded, the developments of phase 1 will be made public. Before they will only be provided to the supporting companies of phase 1 and 2.

When the the development of phase 1 is finished, Moses-integration in translate5 will be established and it will be pretty easy to plug-in other TM-based Match resources into translate5 (like OpenTM2 or SDL GroupShare).

Second phase of the crowdfunding: OpenTM2 REST-API

And this is exactly what the second phase of the crowdfunding aims for: Integrating OpenTM2 as a TM- and Match-provider with translate5.

For this it will be necessary to develop a REST-ful API for OpenTM2 and the crowdfundings goal for this is € 15.000,--.

The development of the OpenTM2 part of the crowdfunding will be done by OpenTM2 development lead Gerhard Queck.

To achieve this, we need more companies - especially long-term OpenTM2 users - to support the crowdfunding. If you are interested and want to make this happen, please write to community-support@opentm2.org.

Only with your help this will become reality!!!
